(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The NFLPA (players' association) Said it will "Decertify" renouncing its status as a union and becoming a trade association instead.

arrangements made in the past between the union and the NFL will no longer be immune to competition law.

THE DEBATE

After a long 16 days of talk and many NFL players wondering if there'll be another season this year, the sides could NOT negotiate a new deal.

The sticking point was how to distribute the NFL's $9bn in annual revenues.

Players for the NFL's 32 teams currently receive 60% of the revenues, something the clubs' owners see as too generous.

The NFL takes $1.3bn for costs but it says these have risen steeply since the previous deal was struck in 2006 and it now wants to take $2.3bn, which would mean less money for the players.

The talks also covered wages, drug testing, pension benefits, and plans to increase the number of regular-season games from 16 to 18.

The current agreement expires at the end of Friday.
-----------------------------------------------

So, in other words, will there be another NFL season for 2011-2012? It seems doubtful.

In MY opinion, I think it's because of the players. All they want is the money and won't settle for anything less then what they're getting.

They go hand and hand man. Not much beats weekends during football season. CFB all day Saturday then kick back all day Sunday for the NFL.

Seriously if theres no NFL season next year because of some rich ass bitches that want more money, Im gonna be pissed.

Agreed. There's NO possible reason why these people can't give up some of there millions of dollars. Hell, if I was a millionaire with that much money i'd be like "hey, here ya go, here's 50k"

They're just like every average human being in the world. So why do they need all this money, when we don't?

What's the difference between us and them? just because they can throw a football farther, or catch one better, or run faster..

There's no reason they can't give up any of there money.

I'm done for now, if I don't stop now i'll be like the energizer bunny.

Yeah I can agree, ESPN already showed Jerry Jones one of the richer owners in the League saying this going to the courts only makes it better for a deal to get in place sooner then later. The problem that is holding this up is the talks about an 18 game regular season and that the Owners wont show there books to the players showing them how much in revenue that they make each year. THe Owners are whats holding this up for the people saying its the players its not on the players as much as the owners.

There will be somewhat of a season this year they will lose to much money if they don't This is a 16 billion dollar revenue, they would lose more money then they would make.
