Woman sells place in iPad 2 queue at Apple Store for $900
A student has turned iPad 2 mania into a healthy profit by selling her place in a queue outside Apple's New York store for $900 (£560).
Amanda Foote, 20, joined the line at the Five Avenue shop on Wednesday afternoon, but never had any intention of buying the latest Apple tablet.
The iPad 2 is on sale in the US today (Apple)
Instead she advertised her spot in the queue on the internet and eventually agreed a price with app developer Hazem Sayed.
He handed over the cash this morning and slotted in close to the front of the growing line, ensuring he will be one of the first people to get their hands on the iPad 2 - which goes on sale at 5pm New York time.
Mr Sayed said he was happy to part with the money because he is a big fan of the iPad and wanted his new one before he departed on a business trip on Friday evening.
Ms Foote was also delighted with the arrangement and plans to spend the money on a flight home to Florida and tickets to see Lady Gaga in concert.
The deal was not the most extreme case of Apple mania on show outside the Fifth Avenue store, reports the Wall Street Journal.
Alex Shulimov said he had travelled from Moscow to stand in line and buy a pair of iPad 2s.
He also plans to cash-in on demand for the tablet by selling them for a big profit in Russia.
The iPad 2 is scheduled to be released in the UK on March 25th.
