Post: Ten things we don't understand about humans

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); We belong to a remarkably quirky species. Despite our best efforts, some of our strangest foibles still defy explanation

But as science probes deeper into these eccentricities, it is becoming clear that behaviours and attributes that seem frivolous at first glance often go to the heart of what it means to be human.

1) Blushing

Even Darwin struggled to explain why we would evolve a response that lets others know that we have cheated or lied

2)Laughter

The discovery that laughter is more often produced at banal comments than jokes prompts the question, why did it evolve?

Scent radiator, warmth provider, or chafe protection? The answer to why humans have clumps of hair in private places is still open for debate

Even our closest relatives, the great apes, move smoothly from their juvenile to adult life phases – so why do humans spend an agonising decade skulking around in hoodies?

5)Dreams

Today, most researchers reject Freud's belief that dreams are expressions of our unconscious desires – but if that's the case, what are they for?

6)Altruism

People still debate whether humans are genuinely altruistic by nature, but if we are, most agree it doesn't make evolutionary sense

Sexual display, learning tool or form of social glue? Art still refuses to be pinned down

Many of us have superstitions – odd, reassuring habits that make no rational sense – but there may be an underlying reason for such behaviour

The urge to kiss is not brought about by genes, so why do we find it so pleasurable to share saliva?

Many of us do it, but eating bogeys offers little nutritional reward – could there be a health reason for the unappealing habit?

A lot of these can be explained...

Teenagers is just the natural progression from childhood to adulthood, humans live longer than apes, so it is more drawn out than it is in apes.

Dreams - Our body's attempt to rationalize the random brain activity that occurs when we sleep.

Altruism, art, and superstition are all things which come from our superior intellect. It brings about a care for others, since we are conscious and understand what others are going through; an appreciation for things that we may not be able to fully understand; and the intellect that tries to rationalize things which don't make sense to us.

Kissing - Your lips have some of the highest concentrations of nerves, so they are very sensitive to pressure, just like the head of a penis or the clitoris.

Yeah, so these aren't such great mysteries after all, some of them were good though. like blushing and laughter.

Love most likely evolve from back we were starting out as a species, just like most animals we pared off as of way to protect the young which prob why sex feels awesome, its a way for females to use us by offering that in exchange for safety for the young and herself. Sex also evolved from more then a reproduction reason to more of way to bond with others in a society the way dolphins do.
as for homosexuality, we're not the only species to do it and i really don't no what the cause of it but i don't think its just choice.

Btw it really only a theory of mine and as always its best to do research

Good thread

One thing missing is the brain
Which we know not much about been cases where a person has brain damage of 60%. Within months that person can walk again and back to normal.

Well it really depends on what part(s) of the brain is damage, it may look like there normal someone with brain damage are really never 100% back to what they once we're, whether it be loss of memory, to hand eye coordination not be at to performance to even loss of body control.

Wee don't need love, but it does help.
We were given both love and orgasms to motivate us to procreate.
That's my view Happy
