Heres a quick thread on how to make a good forum thread, if you follow these tips and instructions you will have what it takes to make your thread well known around the forum.
Instructions
1] THINK OF A GOOD TOPIC that is going to resonate with forum members. Consider something that will motivate a person to chime in or give their opinion on a point of discussion. Also, try to brainstorm subjects that haven't been seen before on that particular forum.
2] USE A CATCHY TITLE. This will be the most significant part of a popular thread that draws in participators. Titles that are effective are often funny, clever or even just extremely blunt.
3] ADD A POLL. Everyone has an opinion, and adding a poll to a forum thread is a great way to get people to react. An added bonus of using a poll is that it will say that a poll is included in the thread through its title.
4] PARTICIPATE IN YOUR THREAD to help keep it active and alive. If people see you returning to contribute, this may inspire them to do the same. Also, you can make use of the always handy "bump" to keep your topic relevant.
Tips & Warnings
1] One good way to promote your thread is to drop a link to it in your signature on that forum. That way, every time you post you will also be advertising your thread.
2] Having a strong reputation or presence on a forum is another way to make a thread successful. If you are popular enough, people will be more inclined to participate in what you have to say.
3] Do not start a conversational on your thread to other users. Just send them a private message.
4] Think if you would want to read this thread if someone else made it, don't just post it for the hell of it, post things YOU would want to read and post in. Also think if others would want to read and post in the thread themselves.
