Homefront might have been a flop with most reviewers, but THQ's controversial first person shooter has gone straight into the number one and two slots in the UK sales chart.
As usual with first person shooters, the Xbox 360 version saw the lion's share of sales, with 70 per cent of buyers choosing to pick up that version, compared to 26 per cent on the PlayStation 3 and 4 per cent on the PC.
The considerably better received Total War: Shogun 2 also made a strong debut at number four, in both the individual and multiformat charts - although it was cheating a bit since it came out on Tuesday and everything else came out on Friday. Even so, 80 per cent of its retail sales were made in the first 24 hours.
Outside the top 10 2K Sports' equally well-reviewed Top Spin 4 entered the charts at number 13 in the multiformat charts, with a far more even mix of sales across the two HD formats: 51 per cent for the Xbox 360 and 45 per cent for the PlayStation 3 (plus 4 per cent for the Wii).
Sega's Yakuza 4 also did relatively well by debuting at number 25 (26 in the individual format charts) on the PlayStation 3. But unfortunately it was predictably bad news for Okamiden.
Just like its predecessors the game has been released to good reviews and terrible sales. It failed to get into either top 40 and only managed to reach as high as number 10 in the Nintendo DS chart. We doubt anyone, including Capcom, are surprised.
