This works with any real number. No negatives or decimals.

Let's use 42 for example:

1. Multiply the # by itself 42x42 = 1764
2. Then subtract the original number (42) from the number; 1764-42= 1722
3. Divide that number by your original number. 1722(dividided by)42=41
4. Congrats you have successfully subtracted 1

If you are going to use this/share this, remember I came up by this.

Oh, it works with decimals and fractions now.

This will help when the subtract button breaks on my calculator

5 x 5 = 25
25 - 5 [Oh wait... I still have to subtract/facepalm ] = 20
20 - 5 = 4 :dunce:
