Review

So, a couple of months ago I spotted a LOVEFILM.co.uk free thirty day trial on my PS3, at the time I dismissed it straight away and headed straight back to BlackOps. However, since then a few of my friends and a member of my family have recommended it to me, so a couple of days ago I turned my PS3 on and made an account for that free thirty day trial.

In this review I will explain how the site works and wat it has to offer, explain the different membership packages and leave my own personal opinion on the service.[/SIZE]

What is LoveFilm?

So some of you may be wondering, "What exactly is LoveFilm?". LoveFilm provides a service similar to the American Netflix, you can watch movies and TV shows online, not only that you can also have them sent to you in the post free of charge along with video games and blu-ray titles. You can either stream the online movies and TV shows through your PC, PS3 and any other devices that support this feature.

How does it work?

After your trial period has ended, there are various different membership options you can sign up for (I will be discussing the membership options later on). The price you pay (starting from £5 and finishing at £20) determines what you get, for example with the £5 option you might be able to rent four DVDs a month (they would only send you two at any one time, you'd be sent one of the other two once you've sent one back), and stream two hours online. With the £20 option you may be able to rent ten DVDs a month and watch as many movies as you want online.

Once they have sent you a game or DVD you can keep it for as long as you like, but if you were aloud four rentals a month you can only have two in your possession at once. So they wouldn't send you another one until you've sent one of the first two back.

To choose which DVDs or games you want sent to you, you create a rental list as large as you like (they recommend you add up to ten). Once you've added something to the list you put a level of priority onto it.

  • Low: Doesn't matter when it it dispatched.
  • Medium: Dispatch it wen it becomes available.
  • High: Dispatch it ASAP!

Postage

Delivery is free of charge, and a pre-paid return envelope is given to you when you receive your movie. The day I activated my trial I placed South Park Series 13 on my rental list, it arrived the next day. Here is a photo of the envelope and packing it arrived in.

Content?

LoveFilm has from anything ten year old PS2 games to latest hits such as Homefront and Crysis 2, it has all the new releases, everything I've ever searched for it has had. I myself reserved Crysis 2 and Homefront before they came out and had them for rental a couple of days after their release.

In-case you wondering it has Xbox, PS3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP games. It has pretty much every movie and TV show, it even has adult content :derp:.

My Opinion

Even if you don't want to take out a membership, I recommend you take out the thirty day trial through PS3 or fourteen day trial on PC, it's an absolute superb service. As soon as you start adding you should receive your first DVD within one day or two.

Anyway thanks for taking your time to read this thread, I've enjoyed putting it together.
