"A mother in Newburgh, NY, is believed to have driven a van carrying herself and four children into the Hudson River, killing three of her children. Lashanda Armstrong, 25, drove the van off a boat ramp Tuesday, plunging herself and four children ages 10, 5, 3 and 11 months into the murky water. Her 10-year-old, Lashuan, escaped the fate of his siblings and mother, swimming to store. He was picked up by a passerby who drove him to a nearby fire station where police were alerted. Authorities say the boy was "soaking wet” when he arrived. By the time authorities reached the van it was too late--all four inside had already died. According to a report in the Times Herald-Record of Middleton, NY, police had been called to the woman’s home earlier in the night for a reported domestic dispute. Divers found the minivan in 8 feet of murky water about 25 feet offshore, a short distance from Gully’s, a floating restaurant, that hasn’t opened yet for the season and a tow truck was used to pull it from the water around 9 p.m. The victims were identified as Lashanda Armstrong; her two sons, Pierce Armstrong, 5, and Lance Pierre, 2; and a daughter, Lainina, 11 months.
