[multipage=Introduction]

Hey guys

Yesterday I went to Gadget Show Live @ the NEC in Birmingham, so I thought I would share my experiences about the show with you guys Smile

For those of you who don't know, The Gadget Show is a program on Channel Five basically about everything technology, and every year it sets up this sort of exhibition where you can go and look at what is happening in the land of tech; what's new, what's hot and where things are going Smile
There are hundreds of stands, with a range of companies and organisations there, everyone from Sony to The University of Wolverhampton Smile

[multipage=Upcoming Gadgets]

From the time I spent there I have gathered that where technology seems to be going is 3D. There wasn't a single point where when you were walking around you couldn't see a stand showcasing some sort of 3D product, whether that be a TV, Computer or Game. Although 3D is a big achievement, I feel it still needs a bit of development. For example, I played Battlefield Bad Company 2 on the computer in 3D, and I couldn't read any of the subtitles. They were blurry and out of line. However, when I went over and played Crysis 2 3D (also on the Computer) the 3D effect seemed to be perfect, with every single word legible, and the proper feeling that when a car blew up next to you that it was going to send pieces of shrapnel right into your face.

Another fantastic offering was by, and I hate to say it, Sony. They had a TV linked up to their HD Camcorder, with some 3D glasses provided. I don't know if any of you have used the 3D Camera before, but it works perfectly. As my brother shoved the Guide we bought towards the two lenses, and I watched the TV, the corner of the Guide felt like it was extending from the television.

[multipage=Popular Stands/Areas]

There were a few popular stands. I think the most popular area was an area called 'Test Track', where as the name suggests you could try out some techy vehicles. As you probably would expect, the most popular option was the 'Segways' :p With over an hours wait, it became a bit ridiculous Smile Luckily me and my two Brothers got there early, and in enough time to see a total of three crashes; the funniest of which had to be when a black man floored it, went straight into a barrier and took down over 10m of metal partings :p

Another popular area was the Honda stand, where they had set up a mini race track, with remotely controllable Honda Civic touring cars :p

[multipage=Interesting Stands]

I have two interesting stands that stuck in my memory. =D

One would be the Dragon Speech Recognition Software stand. This is the best SRS I have ever seen. It walks all over and teabags Microsoft's offering; Dragon is not just another text editor, you can literally control your whole computer using the software. Tell it to open Microsoft Word and it will, tell it to Press Enter and it will. Some of you might of seen me using it in the Shoutbox :p

Another one would be the Razor stand. Not because of the Tech, it was just another stand with about 12 Computers set up with various games being played in 3D Smile What was interesting was the appearance of the Starcraft player SeleCT, a Korean player who is extremely well known in the SC world :p He had a... battle? (I don't know what you call it in Starcraft) with another apparently famous user, AniC or something. Unfortunately I didn't stay to see who won :p

[multipage=Conclusion]

Thanks for reading my brief round up of my experience @ GSL, I recommend you go next year if you enjoy this sort of thing Smile

Also sorry if it was tl;dr, I think I might have gone on for a bit :p
