Post: Knifes and the law. Help me!
04-19-2011, 03:04 AM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I got a knife, well I may. But it's a spring loaded knife, it is like a switchblade. Now switchblades are illegal to have. Is this to carry or is this to own? But would the law be the same for switchblade. I'm probably never going to carry it if I buy it. But please help me, I'm in usa.

Daddy's home.
IMO Owning and carrying are completely different. I own a lock knife, Butterfly knife and a pen Knife, but I don't carry. Carrying means that you would contemplate on using it, whether it's for defence or just to be a dick and mug/stab someone with it. If you don't carry it should be fine I think. They can't tell you what you can and cannot own in your own house. Take meat knives. They could do a hell of a lot more damage than a switch blade.

I don't believe it is illegal... I mean if you are carrying it and you get pulled over or something they can say you are a carrying a concealed weapon but the odds of that ar every low....

May be wrong but this is what i found

Legal if length of blade does not exceed 1.5", Illegal otherwise. Can't find anything on if carrying only or owning mate.
