What I understand from them is that they keep making videos of this and that, making death threats to scientology and shit, but they say "expect us" to everyone they make a video to. But all they seem to do is DDoS the site to bring it down. What have they done to Sony? DDoS PSN site to affect other users who they are supposedly fighting for. Sure, they are standing up for our rights and I and many others applaud them for it, but they are doing nothing to harm their targets but a simple DDoS from a bunch of 13 year olds who think they are "l337 Hax0rs". They take a site down for a couple hours if that and leave it at that. Is that what people should expect from them? Not being able to use Paypal for a few hours. They say they are leaving Sony alone because they made an agreement with Geohot, yet they were supposedly attacking them for taking out other OS. Way to stick too a target.
"All talk no action" can be translated to "pussy". It was a generalization, don't get butthurt over it.
Secondly, violence typically isn't the way hacktivists deal with things. Ever hear of "peaceful protests"? "They're" not terrorists, they're activists. Some people take it a bit far, but pretty much it's quite the opposite of what Anon stands for.
Between Project Chanalogy (the peaceful, legitimate side), Hal Turner, Chris Forcand, Anonymous Iran, Assange, etc, they've helped people and preserved our rights and the rights of other living things quite successfully.
I can name quite a few things that have had quite the impact, and quite a things that have failed, such as this. But the point is they've protected more of our rights than you and I will ever try to, and just because this is seen as typical Anonymous doesn't mean it's true Anonymous.
There's a difference between those "13-year old DDoSers" (once again, a generalization) and people standing up for our rights. And instead of criticizing the former side, we should get off our asses and help the latter.
I'm pretty sure there was once a news article in Wired that explained the difference between the "hackers" on ebaumsworld, 4chan, 7chan, etc, and Anonymous. And it's pretty correct, to be honest.
I may be wrong, but I believe Wikipedia (among other things) has an explanation of a few things they've done, and how it has changed things.
