Yes you read the thread title correctly...Ubisoft are planning on opening a new movie studio so this means that many of the games may end up on the big screen.
Ubisoft Motion Pictures and will be headed by Jean-Julien Baronnet of EuropaCorp, the French film studio behind the Transporter movies.

Ubisoft is yet to confirm any movies that are planned, however if they choose some of their video game Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon will be top of the agenda.
This also ties in with a survey that Ubisoft sent out last month to a cross-section of gamers, asking their thoughts on an Assassin’s Creed and Ghost Recon movie.

Ubisoft have made a film beofre with the Prince of Persia: The sands of time film (which I personally didnt see as it didnt look that good). However the film hit the box office and netted over $335 million across the globe.

With the French studio solely in charge of production on any future titles, the potential is there to make some stunning recreations of its best-loved IPs. Assassin's Creed in particular could be awesome.

Now I would especially be looking forward to seeing the release of an Assassins creed film. It will give another view from the story within the game, whether it would be based directly on the game (characters, villians, plot) etc. Or it could be a whole new story. The other films such as splinter cell and ghost recon may be appealing but not as appealing as an Assassins creed film :y:

Meh, films from games don't tend to be that good. Hitman was ok, but it wasn't like the game. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as it could have been. In my opinion, if they are going to make films from games, they need the best people in cast and crew. That usually tends to mean that if it's got top actors, the script will be good as to not "damage" their image. Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon could be amazing films providing they had the right cast and crew. Ridley Scott would be an ace director after Black Hawk Down. That is by far the best war film I have seen that I can think of. He also directed Body of Lies which was a good CIA film, kinda like what Splinter Cell is, only he's NSA. Oh, and Tom hanks as a producer after Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brother and Pacific. They were ace films/shows.
