Discuss what exercise equiptment you have.

To start off, I have a 20kg dumbell set from Argos which I've had for a year or so, the weights are plastic, filled with some sort of cast.

Next, I have the iron gym pull-up bar which I bought from Amazon. It's pretty sturdy and just slots into your doorframe.

Lastly I have push-up handles, I prefer not to use them as they really put a lot of strain on your wrists.

Pretty good system that take some heavy weights(I should know as i'm an ex-bodybuilder lol),does the majority of compound excercises for weight gaining.
Used to go to a gym,but with time constraints had to train at home.
Complemented with barbells,dumbells,ez-curl bars..

Strange you should mention that because i use them too without any problems and i find they're much better than just doing normal push-ups.
Did you have any problems with your wrists before you used them?
Either that,or you need to strengthen your wrists by doing wrist curls on the end of a bench, but never use too much/heavy weight.

PS.Do your push up handles rotate?..that might be why you're getting sore/aching wrists if they don't rotate.

These are the ones I use that rotate as you push up and lower your body.No wrist pain at all.
