I feel the best but hardest way to learn a language is live in the country that speaks it. If you're planning on moving there or something then that's the best way as like websites that teach you won't ever be the same as how people speak in that country.

I'm not moving there (although I might if I learn )
I am going to ukraine in 2012 for a short time and apparently russian is spoken more where we are going (I looked at maps and was sure that ukrainian was more but that is what I was told)

I believe you're correct, there was a girl at my school who was from Ukraine and her first language was russian.
