Also no such thing as 'the end of the world', sure everyone may die, but the world will likely stay here unless it's blown up or some shit.

Just wanted to expand a little on this statement.

This is taken from an article on You must login or register to view this content. about the timeline for the sun becoming a "red giant"...

When the Sun does begin to bloat up, it will go quickly, sweeping through the inner Solar System in just 5 million years. It will then enter its relatively brief (130 million year) helium-burning phase. It will expand past the orbit of Mercury, and then Venus. By the time it approaches the Earth, it will be losing 4.9 x 1020 tonnes of mass every year (8% the mass of the Earth).

But the habitable zone will be gone much sooner. Astronomers estimate that will expand past the Earth’s orbit in just a billion years. The heating Sun will evaporate the Earth’s oceans away, and then solar radiation will blast away the hydrogen from the water. The Earth will never have oceans again. It will eventually become molten again.

One interesting side benefit for the Solar System. Even though the Earth, at a mere 1.5 astronomical units, will no longer be within the Sun’s habitable zone, much of the Solar System will be. The new habitable zone will stretch from 49.4 AU to 71.4 AU, well into the Kuiper Belt. The formerly icy worlds will melt, and liquid water will be present beyond the orbit of Pluto. Perhaps Eris will be the new homeworld.

Back to the question… will the Earth survive?

According to Schroder and Smith, the answer is no. Even though the Earth could expand to an orbit 50% larger than today’s orbit, it won’t get the chance. The expanding Sun will engulf the Earth just before it reaches the tip of the red giant phase. And the Sun would still have another 0.25 AU and 500,000 years to grow.

So, with all that being said, I think it's safe to say that there is such a thing as "the end of the world".

Surely I agree with you that there is such a thing, but I doubt it will happen in our life time.

Oh well that's a given. Although, there is the comet that is predicted to hit earth in 2069. That's not too far off.

Oh yeah, did I mention the comet is the size of Texas?

Let me shine a little light on what the Rapture is.
Many people have been deceived of what will happen. This is coming from a christian, who does not follow Camping's ideas.

The Rapture is an event where Jesus Christ will come down to earth for a second time with every believer who died before this event. The dead will retrieve their bodies and then the believers who are still alive and remaining will be caught up in the clouds to meet Jesus.

(The first coming of Jesus is when he was crucified on the cross and then was buried and rose 3 days later. During the 3 days he met with people who were in a place called "paradise" After these 3 days were up, he came back to earth with these dead believers. These believers were walking the streets of Jerusalem for a period of time until Jesus went to heaven.)

Now after the second coming of Jesus Christ, this will trigger an event called, "the Tribulation period". This will last 7 years. During the 7 years, earth will go through many trials and tribulations. A man will rise up and become a leader and call himself God. This man will be the anti christ. (On an interesting note, this man will make everyone take a mark, to where if you don't take this mark, you cannot buy/trade/sell. I personally believe this mark will be an RFID chip.)
After the tribulation period, a battle will take place called, "the battle of Armageddon.
This battle will be in the valley of Tel Megiddo.
(Read the Book of Revelations in the Bible for more details.)

This will be when the anti-christ stand on the Mount of Olives and says he has conquored the north, the south, the east, and the west. But then all the believers will come down from heaven and The anti christ will look up, and all the armies of many nations will look up and with one word, Jesus will single handedly destroy everyone in that valley.

This begins the millennium. Which is 1000 years. I'm not going to go into detail about that one.

After the millennium, there will be a final battle.... Not going to go into detail.

I hope I shed some light on the Rapture.

No man will know when the Rapture will happen, not even Jesus.

God does indicate some facts of when the Rapture is near.

Lu 21:8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

Lu 21:9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.

Lu 21:10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

Lu 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

Lu 21:12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
==========================================
Now, I personally believe that the Rapture is near. There is too many things going on, on this earth for it to be a coincidence.
When the Rapture does happen, it will be the greatest thing ever. There will be no more pain from our body, because we get a new ressurected body. There will be no more worries, there will be no more suffering.

You can be apart of the Rapture. There is no such thing as selected ones. The gift of salvation is open to ANYONE who would like to receive it. (Not just 300 million people)

If you would like to know then follow these steps provided:

1. You must know you are a sinner.
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Everyone has sinned at one point in their life. In Fact, We were born sinners because of our parents sin nature. No-one is righteous.

2. You must know God's price on Sin.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

In that verse, they are referring to the second death, which is death in hell.

3. There is a way out though.....
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
God gave us his son to die on the cross so we could go to heaven.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

This means that anyone who calls on his name to be saved, will go to heaven.
Romans 10:9-11 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

So if you believe that Jesus died on the cross for mankind to be saved, and you believe that he is the Son of God and is the only way to heaven, then he will take you to heaven.
If you believe then pray. Act in faith.

"Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I know that there is a price on sin, and that is death in hell. I know that if I died today, I would die in my sins and go to hell. I am asking you in faith to come into my heart, and take me to heaven when I die. I thank you for dying for me. Amen."

If you truly meant and believed in that, then you will go to heaven when you die, or get rapture. It is not the prayer that saves you, but believing.

Now nothing can take away your salvation. You are one of many many millions who will be raptured. Nothing you can do will take away your salvation. You are saved and apart of the family of God.

I Know this has been a long post, but I felt like I needed to shine some light on the truth and keep garbage threads out of the community.
If you had any questions about what I have said, or about the rapture, feel free to PM me. :p

Why is it that even though I'm an atheist, that I have to point out stupid stuff christians say about the bible when it isn't even in there? The bible never says a specific time when the rapture will occur, and it specifically says that the god of the bible is the only one who "truly" knows when it will occur, and even his son jesus did not know. I personally think it's all complete bullshit though, and wouldn't want to be "raptured" to be in any "heaven" with rapists and killers along with an egotistical deity that will only allow you in if you kiss his ass all your life. I cannot claim with certainty that there is no god, but if the christian version actually somehow did exist within the context of the bible then I would certainly not worship any such god as they are obviously not all-powerful in that they could not create humans to be perfect (and free will here doesn't matter, if you're perfect so will be all of your decisions) and they are extremely evil. I don't believe in any type of deity, ghost, demon, etc., and I also do not hold any superstitions due to finding a level of rationality in my life. All i hear when I see this is that people are exrremely gullible.

Humans were created perfect according to the bible. It was our free will that tempted us to lose that perfection and become out of God's favor. I don't want to get into a religious debate, but that was the one thing I just wanted to point out, that humans were perfect, but our own free will destroyed that perfection.
