If it was normal then why are we not born without it? We are born with it for a reason. It protects the head. I bet your end isn't sensitive because it's been exposed for all these years. You could say compare it to your eye lids. You need them because they keep your eyes from drying out. Foreskin does the same. It keeps the end moist so it doesn't dry out and look like a dried up sausage. I bet there is more health risk to not having it than to having it. If you keep it clean, you'll be fine from infection.
