(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Personally I think its not, I would for example, stab someone who was going to stab one of my family or GF, or something.
Debate.

A man walks up to you with a knife, you can either

Let him stab you and potentially kill you

Or

You can take the knife off of him as self defense and stab him and potentially kill him.

Which one would you choose?

Yes, but that is slightly different from this thread as that deals with more in to detail ethics.

I completely agree.

Well let's see. Hmmm... Let him kill me, or I kill him. Tough call. Seeing I value my life though I would take his.

Or convince him that (place fav deity here) will not be happy if he kills you, but it is ok to go kill everyone else. Takes care of both problems.

I believe it still fits the concept of "doing bad for good" though.

Then you must consider why they are poor and what did the rich do to become rich etc...

What you're refering to is self defence,as there is no right nor wrong but the opinion of oneself.
Anyone caught in a similar situation to what you describe will take action to prevent any threat necessary.
The consequences of your action(may that be good in your opinion),might not go down well with the law.
And with laws nowadays gone the path of stupidity, your actions for self preservation might not be so simple,as the perpetrator can sue your ass off for beating the crap out of him.
Every action has a reaction.
