There is no need to treat women differently from any man anymore in today's society. Women wanted equality and it have been achieved, and equality works both ways. So I can punch a women just as much as any man because biological strength is no longer a factor, see that would be sexist if I thought differently. This is today's world, and if a man refuses to hit a women for any reason then you are today's second class sex in this world, seeing as women are equal to men but you are still trying to treat them as a past generation of females that no longer exist. Women cannot have both, to be immune from violence and still have all the chances men have. But sadly men do fail to see this, so it is better to be a women these days. But its not these men's fault who think like this because it is their natural reactions, it is hard-coded into us. So it is society that has failed men.
Anybody who can put 2 and 2 together should know it's a blatant double standard and complete sexism. Although the reason I wouldn't hit a girl in a everyday situation seems to be a small form a chivalry. Although I'm not the nicest person to men and other guys, I do my best to be nice to all girls. I can't possibly recall any potential influence to lead me to the mindset that I must be nice (or at least do my best to be nice) to all girls. It's just something in me that makes me feel bad if I'm mean to a girl (and yes it's only girls).
