This topic came to mind as I saw a program on TV, 2 female police officers(UK) pretending to be prostitutes then subsequently arresting the "customers". Surely this is extremely unfair? Opinions, please

Actually, if the any of them two have a disease, and they use a condom that splits, or just not use a condom, and the other person catches the disease, then they have sex with someone else without a condom, maybe their partner, and they break up, and they don't know, and have sex with someone else like before, then that's affected 3 people out of 4. That number could rise depending on when they get symptoms to get checked, which by that time say 10 people now have it from that 1 person. That's affected a lot more than the two in the act.

It is only affecting those in the act. Are little kids being affected? No. My point being that violent tv shows do more damage to society than prostitution.

I am sure you are aware of the thousands of children a year that are sold to the sex slave industry, especially in countries like Thailand and Indonesia.

I would say that many more children are effected by illegal prostitution around the world , than are effected by violent TV shows.

Legalizing it in those countries would do little to stop human trafficking, but if it did I would support any efforts along those lines.

Prostitution and human trafficking is entirely different, so don't think of using that as an argument.

Now that aside, violent TV shows do more damage. In fact, there have been numerous studies done. The first being done in the late 1940's when TV was becoming what it is. The result was a third grade class just seeing an act of violence instigated them to have a fight once they left the classroom, and the kids were saying, "hit him!".

A much more recent study in 2007 documented that the average US child who finishes school will have seen around 5,000 murders and 80,000 acts of violence of TV. Visual learning is more focused when you are younger. Thus TV does much more damage than Prostitution.

Human trafficking comes into it because thats what the majority of slaves are used for. So if prostitution was legal, there would be in theory less sex slaves due to the industry becoming regulated and not behind "Closed doors".

I'm not saying it doesn't. But say a hooker clear 20 clients A NIGHT. That's 20 people in one night to spread the disease. Now say you slept with a lass you met in a club and got one from her, it could be a week before you have sex again, by which time the symptoms would have shown. So say the hooker clear 20 a night. In 7 days (the week from the lass giving you a disease) that's 140 people (and probably shit more irl) that's got it. Get what I'm saying?

Well, protection is always a possibility If someone's stupid enough to f*ck a prostitute unprotected they were always destined to get a disease anyway, given how careless they are.
