Over in the US you need a warrant to be searched unless a law enforcer can see a suspicious item. So if an officer pulls over a car for speeding and sees a gun in the car, he has the right to search that car. If he pulls over a different car and thinks the guy is concealing a weapon, he's not allowed to look for it unless he has a warrant or he can see the gun or ammunition for a gun.

Police can only search you if they have a reason to search you. They can't just stop you for no reason and search you. You have to have actually done something suspicious or just committed a crime.

No reason, then explain why when you have a good car and you are under the age of 30 the stop you for no reason and search you and your car.

They're not aloud to just search you. Unless they caught you acting suspiciously, or the car gets flagged on their computers, or a group of 5 lads in the car that's worth thousands, then they can pull you up and have a word with you. Then if they smell something like alcohol or drugs, then they can search you and the car. If they pull you up and just start searching the car then you have the right to ask if they have a reason to. Read Phsycobeans thread on the police. And I can ask my brother too to double check I'm saying the right stuff, he's training to be a cop.

They do however they please, you can't complain if their is two of them either, who is to believe? Some young adult or 2 Police Officers?
They have searched my fathers car many times for no apparent reason (when he was under 30), no drugs in the car, nor is he drunk, nor is the car flagged, and no points on his license either, all because it is a car that cost over £40,000. And before you say he was probably speeding or driving inappropriatly, going 40 in a 40 zone isn't speeding and overtaking when allowed is not driving inappropriatly either.

This is a little off topic but I know people who have been beaten by Police (yes beaten) because they have gave them a little abuse, they have no right to beat you, but who is to believe again? Someone who just causes trouble, or 10 Officers? Who cares if you have injuries as evidence, you will be told you have self harmed.

Knowing your rights will really help you out. This guy knew his rights. Sadly, there was no one there to back him up. He was overpowered. In situations like this, you need to improvise.
