I don't mean competitive, but the 'boy gamer' that would have a sleepless night playing a campaign game, and feel like a total boss because you've completed the game.

Now this side of me must of left a while back (probably 5months after I found CoD4). Around the time I started playing rather competitive. This could be a coincidence, but there is a possibility that competitive play ruined 'the fun' in gaming for me. Ever since GameBattles on CoD4-Mw2 I can't seem to get into any campaigns anymore, all I want to do is get online and try and show my dominance.

The time I've put into gaming could be another factor, I've played so much CoD for the previous two years which could have drowned out all the fun I use to get from gaming. It's quite a feasible reason to why gaming could of got boring. It's the same with anything, if you do too much of it, it becomes repetitive and boring.

Addiction, obviously something I don't see, but it's quite possible that I've grown a slight 'addiction' to Call Of Duty/Shooters meaning I don't get my 'fix' playing campaign games or platform games.

This is just a quick write up to why I think gaming has lost it's fun for me, and I hope I can hear some sensible replies and have a good overall discussion to why gaming has become boring to some/most of us.

The question is, why did the enjoyment of gaming disappear for you?

it killed it for me cuz mp is where all the fun is at , but with the waves and waves of immature children playing cod , my gaming spirit is back up and been up since GOD OF WAR 3 / BATMAN ARKUM CAME OUT . play them and you will feel like a kid again. 2 mayor single player games which are ****ing great!!!

Couldn't disagree more. LA Noir is a great game but it needs time commitment and doesn't draw you in unless you let it. It's got a slow build up, is low on gameplay compared to atmosphere and style and is generally far to subtle to be the game that brings you back into gaming. If you want something interesting and different, great, but if you're finding gaming isn't satisfying you anymore then this game is just going to feel bland and boring because you won't invest yourself in it willingly, you'll nit-pick, even subconciously and it'll ruin the game for you. I'm glad you enjoyed it, but in this situation I think this is a bad choice.

Yeah, just in the past month I have noticed how much I do not play my PS3 anymore. I havn't updated for quite some time. Not sure why but I feel like selling it but then I just don't want to?:\

i completley 100 % with this thread . I used to love playing games , but for some reason , after black ops come out , its no longer fun. After about 20 mins on the xbox / ps3 i am bored and want to get off , whereas about 2 years ago , i would be playing hours on end joyfully and cant wait to get back online and play some more.

uncharted 3 is/was fun

I agree, both fantastic games, although I gather you're a PS3 owner and while God Of War 3 is great (I personally much prefer the original for artistic reasons) it's a PS3 exclusive so it'll be no good to him, and Batman Arkham Asylum, again while a great game, is occationally glitchy on the Xbox 360 with a fair bit of screen tearing... but then I suggested Darksiders and that has the same issue. They're both much better on the PS3 version.

Personally I feel the PS3 has much better games for breaking people out of these kind of luls anyway. There's the Uncharted Series, Demons's Souls (oldschool hard), God Of War Series (get the HD remake of the original), the HD remake of Ico/Shadow Of The Collosus, The Ratchet & Clank series. It doesn't have much in the way of RPGs however which is what I'd pull for if I wanted to get out of a gaming low. There's Folklore, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Valkyria Chronicles and that's about it really... but then the RPG, especially the jRPG genre has almost died recently because it's difficult to make them with the graphical push people expect yet still make them long story driven 60 hour epics without having a budget to rival Microsoft itself. Oh, and Dragon Age: Origins is incredible, but you're better off with the PC version if you have a computer to run it. Only get the PS3 version if you've no other choice, and NEVER touch the 360 version.

That's stupid, your solution to making CoD fun is to release more of them even faster so there's less production time and more cash in pap. Well done. You're the reason CoD sucks, because you think they need to keep making more of what is basically the same f*cking multiplayer game with a few new maps and maybe one new gun every year. What they need to do is come up with a new idea. Not release more games. Why would you even suggest that, do you just like giving companies your money or something?
