First of all the site rules...

Flaming:
Don't flame other people on the forums, we don't want flamewars here. So keep it nice!
Everyone will get punished who is involved with flaming.


Spamming:
Please don't spam in topics, spam is something like: "OMG Phr33 S700f Pl0x!!!111".
Also, please don't make One word posts because this is only allowed in the games section.


Double posts:
Please don't double post - just click on "EDIT" on your previous post.


Multiple Accounts:
Don't make multiple accounts to give yourself: Rep, Gifts, Vbux and ribbons.


Discrimination:
Discrimination is not allowed here, discrimination is based on: religious or other people's believes, language, gender, race, or anything else.


Rudeness:
Rudeness is basically the same as flaming, so don't be rude.


Same topics:
Don't make topics that have been posted before, as this only leads to problems. First use the search button on the forum before you ask your question.
You can also go to the Help Center for other questions.


Cross posting:
Cross posting is making the same topics over and over again for a few times by the same user.
The poster will be punished for doing this.


Misleading content:
Always make good topic names. Don't mislead other people.


Advertising:
Don't advertise on NextGenUpdate, the only exception being in your signature (but you aren't allowed to direct people to it. i.e. "If you want to rankup then click the link in my sig."). If you want to start a clan, just PM the people who wants to join with your link.


Begging:
Begging for Rep, Gifts, ribbons and vBux is against our rules. Earn it!


Ripping:
Ripping is NOT allowed here, make something yourself to show off! You will get a ban from the GFX section if you rip a signature, avatar or other artwork.


Impersonating:
Impersonating is not allowed. This doesn't only include impersonating staff either, but it also includes pretending another forum member


Warnings/Infractions:
When you are warned, you receive 0 points and is meant to serve as a warning for breaking the rules. An infraction can either be 1 or 2 (or a custom amount for very severe, or unusual circumstances) points depending on what rules you broke and the severity. Points usually expire after 90 days, but custom infractions can be given which may last longer or even forever. When you receive 3 points, you get a 5 day ban. When you receive 4 points, you get a 7 day ban, and the next warning is a permanent ban.


Requesting to be a staff member:
Don't ask for being a staff member of NextGenUpdate, as this will only decrease your chance.


Ranting our rules:
Making topics about ranting our rules is not allowed. If you don't like it, just learn to live with it.


Reporting a post:
If you see someone breaking our rules, just click on the "Report button" under the name of the poster. Also don't use this to spam, advertise and other rule breaking stuff.


Infractions/Warnings Forum:
Do NOT post in the infractions/warnings forum unless you are the user disputing an infraction or you have anything at all that will help anyone. If not, you may receive an infraction or warning yourself.

These are the rules.. follow them, they are useful and will help you not become warned and infracted.



Secondly, The Shoutbox

There are some general rules in the NGU shoutbox. Dont flame, spam or post pR0n. Also dont beg for rep. If your thread, is good it will gain rep and you will gain respect but if you beg for rep, it will generally lower you respect. Also it is one of the site rules, so it needs to be followed.

Things not allowed in shoutbox:

Upside down text, spoilers, quotes, in-game xmb bars and general spam.

Also many people ask: "how do i write in gradient/rainbow text". Donate and you will find out about this.



General Forums:

Try to post helpful and good threads. Don't trick people. For example: " Lag switch guide" and then inside thread have something like: "I lied, lol!" This is just annoying and frustrating to members.

When you see a double post, spam or flaming. Use the report button which is a little sign under the users stats, click that and report, easy. Then when a moderator see's it. It will be dealt with appropriately. This helps the moderators to keep the forum clean and spam free.

Check if your thread has been posted before. For example, when the CoD WaW, colored clan tags first came out, everyone was posting them in different threads and there were a number of threads which were basically the same. So if your thread is already posted, dont post it. Also if you make the mistake of making it then realize that it has been posted, just report it and it will be closed.



Moderators:

You will not become a moderator, by asking to be one. There are some requirements: be a donator, use good grammar and full english. For example use: This is my thread, NOT dis is ma thread. This will not gain you respect.

Multiple accounts:


The staff know when you have multiple accounts, so don't expect to get away with it. DON'T make numerous accounts. This will not gain you respect. Just because your rep looks high, it wont make you look more powerful, just helpful and respected. Banned members who make a new account will just be banned again.

Well in the shoutbox i see premiums and non premiums posting things they shouldn't, and some of them have over 500 posts, so its not just the newbies that need this.
