I go every year to visit some family and we stay in queens pretty nice compared to Manhattan. We normally take 400$ for a weekend and when we stay for a week to take $1200-$1500 as bus passes and subways are 2$ each and food and such is about 3-5x normal price here.

I just took into consideration that I only took $500 because the school paid for transport and Breakfast and dinner so I agree with TairyHesticles take around 1300 bucks if your going alone

Well i've been there 3 times, and I will be going there again for christmas (also from england). It's such a cool place, I would bring a lot of money if I were you (I Bring like $300 and im only 13). As If your buying clothes and that its cheaper.

Also, I only went/stayed in manhattan. From what I here Brooklyn is quite ruff. So if I were you, try get yourself a room in a nice hotel in manhattan. My favourite was probably palace, as they also have a Maybach to take you around (I'm a massive car fan). But I was also there at christmas. I Think I'm also staying at the Palace at christmas when I go.

Bring a shitload of money, especially if you're hanging out in the city. $3 for a bottle of water ($1 on the outskirts) and $20 for a burger in fridays in time square.
