I joined the Dutch army about 6 years ago (still serving this day) and I joined the Armoured Infantry.
I started of as a Light Machine Gunner.

After a few years I had the opportunity to become "SLA" which means (Translated) "Shooter" (Long Range)
It's not exactly a Sniper but damn close to it.

With this function I went on a 4 month long tour to Afghanistan in 2008....
Here we went on alot of missions along side with Britain's Royal Marine Commando's and with the American/Australian Special Forces.
Seen alot on this tour .... Had alot of IED strikes where our platoon hit one on September 7th 2008 where we had 5 wounded and 1 killed in action.

After this tour I slowly climbed through some ranks and currently I'm Corporal First Class with the function of Vehicle Commander of our new APC:
