Well it’s now pretty much a done deal. Eight out of nine states has agreed to the R18+ rating, with NSW looking likely to follow soon. And even if NSW doesn’t consent, an adult rating for video games is going through with or without them – before the end of the year claims Brendan O’Connor. Below we’ve created a brief round-up of R18+ news for those that want to catch up.

Well it just means that you have to be 18 to buy or use it. It doesn't phase me because I'm already 18 :fyea:.

Isn't M already for 17+? Why make a new rating for one year older haha?

MA15+ is also another video-game rating but is completely pointless, but not for movies.

Australia has:

G - General, mainly kids movies/games
PG - Bit of violence, still pretty much for kids
M - Violence, swearing, bit of nudity, like just ass or a topless chick
MA15+ - Needs ID to get/see something that is MA, has violence, gore, nudity, drugs etc
R 18+ - Legally 18+ to see so heaps of nudity or a lot of gore and violence etc

Hope they don't push all the MA games to R when they bring it out or Im gonna be pissed, well I can just get my brother or someone to buy me them anyway but still, they better not stuff up anything

Video games aren't even that violent, they should be forbidden for under 15-years old or something. I watched a movie called "Savior" and it was pretty brutal and much more violent than (most) video games that have M17+ rating (or similar), and it has 15+ rating.

They said in the news that they are doing games like Call Of Duty to be moved to the R18+ area.

Well if you look at games like Mortal Kombat 9 you can see why it was refused classification in Australia.
