im sure if you put it with your checked luggage, but to make sure security doesnt take it I would ship it.

I think you need a license or something to carry Firearms / Weapons in an airport.

Depends on how strict the importation laws/rules of the specific country you're trying to bring this "sword" of yours into.
A metal sword is classified as a weapon.
