While I was on NGU, I decided to take a look around the search engine. So I decided to look up the the important factors on how to gain respect from others. Lately in our society many people have lack the respect from one another. In life, people expect to have respect given to them. However, that not how it works. Respect is earn, not given. It works as a two way street. Now according to the source there are 11 key factors to gain respect from others. Those 11 key factors are Talk Less, Listen More, Sincere Appreciation, Non Judgemental, Honesty, Leave Praise To Other People, Self Respect, Equanimity, Don’t Take Yourself Too Seriously, Symapthetic Oneness, Principles above Money and Power. Now I'll do my best to my ability to write what each of those key factors means in my own words. Now the first factor states Talk less. Now does it means we should not talk at all and not voice our own opinions? Certainly not. What it means is that we shouldn't try to command respect just by excessively talking. A lot of individuals often say "actions speak louder then words". That phrase has been use from time to time. In order to gain respect from others we do not justify our actions w/ words. When a small incident occur do not get amped up nor intervene the important events. Always be wise when an important situation occur. The source left a interesting quote which is below.



The second key factor is to listen more. In order to understand the situation and be able to comprehend others you have to be willing to listen to what others have to say. Many people like to have their own say. Patience is the key to everything. If your patience enough to listen to what others have to say, they will show you their appreciation of your attention & concern about their current situation their dealing with. As boring as it gets or how the person is being repetitive, there is no harm into listening what that particular person has to say. When we listen to other individuals it shows you are taking an interest in them as a person. The more you listen to them the more you perfect complement to talking less.

The third key factor is Sincere Appreciation. Many people get it twisted w/ sincere appreciation and flattery. Sincere Appreciation is when a person takes the time to look out for other people actions and be generous to offer others. Also, praising others and doing it all the time becomes insincere. It very important to show your sincere appreciation if you want gain respect from others.

The fourth key factor is Non-Judgmental. Now this is a common thing for people like us in our society. It very common for each individual to easily build up the lists of people of who we like & dislike. Our mind have the tendency to be drawn by the faults of others. However, if we continue to pick up the limitations and faults on others it will only diminished your own standing. In order to be non-judgmental you must accept others. Accepting one another is a powerful trait to develop. Our society has a certain pin point where their area where it involves peer pressure to join in criticizing others. In order for others to respect your attitude you must allow yourself to detached your self from people who are judgmental and develop the powerful trait which is to be non-judgmental. In order to achieve that powerful trait you must allow yourself to not even start criticizing others. But to understand that we have our own problems to deal with, then rather worrying about others failure.

The fifth key factor is Honesty. Now honesty is one of the most important factor to gain a person respect. The importance of honesty cannot be underestimated. If you gain a reputation as a liar & sneaky, no one will believe you and it will be difficult for you to gain respect from others. See, it very easy to do the wrong thing because their a temptation to look for someone to put the blame on them. It takes a certain amount of courage to just be honest & accept things that didn't planned out in the long run. Being honest w/ yourself is the best thing you can do in your life.

The sixth key factor is Leave Praise To Other People. In order for others to respect you, do not remind others why they should admire you. The good deeds will obviously be rewarded but forcing the issue will not help the matter. Respect often comes to those who don't come after it.

The seventh key factor is Self Respect. To gain the respect of others you must also have respect in yourself. In order to do so you must believe in yourself. This however is not mixed up w/ egotistical pride, but modest self respect and faith in your inner capacities. The source left a interesting quote for those who like to read it. The eight key factor is Equanimity. To gain the genuine respect from others is important to detached yourself from misfortune, praise, criticism. Praise can easily get into your head and bloat your pride which diminish all the good work you have done before. On the other note, we as people shouldn't get flustered by criticism. Unjust criticism can be ignored if you choose to not let the matter offend you because others can get easily offended by the slightest criticism and then respond in a inappropriate matter. If some people choose to be ignorant and criticize you then the best choice to do is block them out and ignore them. Maintaining the highest principles despite any provocation people will come to appreciate you & respect your inner values.

The ninth key factor is Don't Take Yourself Too Seriously. Rubbing up people the wrong way is not a good way to gain people respect. If people can be self-depreciating and aware of their own limitation then people will begin to respect you more. It very important to avoid taking yourself to serious, but it also important to prevent to exaggerate false modesty which can be irritating others.

The tenth key factor is Sympathetic Oneness. We can easily respect someone who has magnanimous heart. If we have a large heart, we tend to tolerate and identify with the failings of others rather than making a big deal out of it. Sympathy should extend to all and not just a select few people.

The Eleventh key factor is Principles above Money & Power. Now each individuals have numerous opportunity to increase their financial well being and personal influence at the expense of personal values. However, making progress at the expense of others then we tend to lose others respect. Sticking to higher principles and placing others above any temporary monetary gain is a powerful way to gain the lasting respect and appreciation of others.
