I used to not be afraid of snakes, but on a backpacking trip to Yosemite my friends and I were near this river climbing on shit. I was walking on this log and I saw something move in the corner of my eye and there was a rattlesnake just under my foot where I was going to step. It was coiled up not rattling or anything it was really odd. I jumped off scared shitless. I had the weirdest feeling going through my body. My friend was a dumbass and tried to kill it. We didnt know officially if it was a rattlesnake or a snake that had the patterns of a rattlesnake because wtf is there a rattlesnake in this forest area? We thought they only lived in deserts and shit. So he duct tapes his pocketkife to a long stick and hits it and it starts rattling and coils up even more. Right when we heard the rattle we just took off

I have to say that was the scariest moment of my life. I mean there are no hospitals for miles and I would have had to get helo evac if I had got bit..
