Guys, I was wondering if any of you guys have any tips on how to build upper body strength for a teen.
I am 14 years old (15 in october) about 6 foot tall im not fat I just want to try and build some upper body strength.
Obvious answers are push ups, pull ups (can not do in my house nothing to do it on), possibly sit ups?
Any help would be much appreciated.
To build strength requires lifting weights,as pull ups/chin ups, push ups will net you some strength gains but they mainly give you definition(or muscular tone).
The thing is,when you use your own body as (the weight),you're limiting the strength gains because once you've reached a plateau(maxed out using your bodyweight),your strength won't increase.
Sit ups are a good excercise in promoting a strong mid section(abs),as this will help in creating a strong torso(upper body).
If your school has a gym or weight training room, take advantage of it.
OR this , if you don't have access to weights...

When using your body as the weight, try and do as many reps(repetitions) as you can with each excercise.
Your reps will increase as your body adapts to the resistance being forced upon each muscle.
And always perform each excercise with proper form.
If you're not sure how a certain excercise is performed, you can either ask me or even better, google it as videos give you a better picture of how it's done.
Good luck m8
