Why did they feel so safe under blankets? It's not like a murderer will come in thinking "I'm gonna ki..- ahh dang! He's under a blanket

It's just a sense of security, hiding away from whatever you're afraid of.

I still feel safe under blankets. Just as I might feel more safe in a corner, rather than in the open.
