Currently i am 15, and hopefully when im 21 i become a Firefighter. I done work experience at a Fire Station and it was amazing. The pay is alright, you save lives and you become fit and healthy, which of course i already am. Yes

So.. What about you?

It is worth it, my cousins boyfriend done it and he's working for some airline now doing transatlantic flights, loan fully paid off, but getting the money for it in the first place in the current economy is going to be very hard.

Yeah I know. But as you say, he paid the loan off and is now living a normal life with no 100k debt.

To and fro the island.
In terms of a profession, I'm not too sure. For the longest time I've been dabbling in journalism and recently have started writing more often again. I've also considered becoming an economist, as I enjoy learning about the economy, and the like the idea of being able to predict events that occur within the market before they happen.

At the same time, I'm also interesting in creating something of my own. Whether that is a business, a device, a book, or a website, I'm really into creating new things and for the past year or so have been working to create something. I realize that this is something nearly all people aspire for, but I don't feel that it is any reason to throw that aspiration aside.

Well the RAF Reg has pretty much the same fitness level. Gruelling as ****, need to be a good swimmer for training and overall great fitness. They are elite because no other unit in the British Military does what they do, which is protect the base and everything/one in it, as well as patrol so many miles outside the base checking IED's and such. If you were to fail fitness in the army I'd probably say you'd fail in it the RAF Reg as well, but don't hold me to that. Pre joining fitness tests consist of running 1.5 mile in 10 mins 30 and so many push ups and sit ups. Then you go on a 3 day course to see if you have what it takes. Running 3 mile in 24 mins, camping out doing a mock attack and written tests (which apparently you can't fail...). Then after that you have shit loads of training. Visit the RAF site and click the Reg link and it has a video diary of all the weeks. Looks good, but at the same time will be challenging. If you're still young I'd recommend starting training now, like running and such, to get your fitness up. I wish I did when I was 16 and by now I could be in it, rather than being 20 and stuck in a dead end job that I hate.

Fire service you need fitness for obvious reasons, but I don't think it's too challenging, maybe a 8 on the bleep test and lifting people. You don't need any for police. You don't get fitness tests, or if you were to you only need 5 on the bleep test.

Hope I've given you some good info and good luck Smile
