I am a lifeguard at my local gym(YMCA)
Positives: It pays much better than a camp counselor. Maybe because you need to pay money to become a certified lifeguard:p. But its a lot more pay, like $3 more an hour here. You get to sit in a chair and tell people what to do.
Negatives: You get the know-it-all people that think they are the best and will ignore what you say to them. The old ladies are the worst. If you **** up, you will be ****ed up. At least, financially. If you let someone drown because of neglection then you can be sued without coverage from the Red Cross(where I got certified) If you do everything in your power to save them and dont do anything wrong, you will not get sued. You get a lot less hours as a camp counselor does. They get 40 hours a week where as a lifeguard you will get 20 hours.(You do not want more as a guard, trust me...)
