(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); First off, this is me just ranting. No need for groans or complaints or stupid comments. If you don't want to read it, just please go elsewhere. Thanks.

Earlier today I was sitting in my International Relations class. It's an alright class. Kind of boring for me, but its one of the easier classes on my roster. (a type of class that all you have to do is just pay attention and do your homework) However, I noticed a girl in front of me on her laptop. In college, you would think students would be taking notes and diligently working? No...
This girl was constantly checking her Facebook literally every 3-4 minutes. Not only her Facebook, but also her Twitter and Tumblr. Excuse me for being nosey, but this was really irking me. I was actually getting angry at the fact that she was on Facebook majority of the class. (I get angry at the stupidest stuff. Its a problem) Every opportunity she had, she was on Facebook and Twitter. She wasn't even checking her profile or posting her own status updates. Rather, she was looking at others' profiles and pictures. I know this to be certain because the girl was on the larger side, and the pictures she was looking at were of someone of healthier proportions. And the worst part about it, the person next to her was on Twitter as well. And it was just my fair assumption that they were communicating to one another while sitting in such a close proximity.

As I type this, I think I'm realizing that I'm not ranting about the fact she was on Facebook and Twitter. I'm ranting about the idea that Facebook has become such a dramatic part of our lives. (Our, meaning "mainstream society" I suppose) I digress to say, yes, Facebook has its benefits. I stay in touch with my high school friends that are at other colleges and universities. And I'll admit that I have even fallen into this redundant cycle of checking Facebook, that I don't even realize it. Every time I turn on my laptop, I check G-Mail, then my college email, Facebook, then finally NGU. Admittedly, it has become a habit to just check Facebook.

This girl in front of me was so deeply entwined with Facebook that it bothered me to the point of saying, that Facebook has become a detriment to society. Its as if, if a person doesn't log in to Facebook more than once a day for longer than 5-10 minutes at any given time, then the foundation of their day will collapse. Like it's a necessity to go on Facebook. Everywhere I go, I hear argot of "Facebookers". "Look what he/she posted on my wall." "I just commented on his/her status." Facebook has become a drug to humanity. As if seeing a new notification or comment gives the viewer some sort of "release" or "pleasure". And not to mention the people who post the most inane things about their lives that quite frankly, other people probably don't care about. Also, the many people that don't even spell words correctly and "TAlK LiKE ThIS aLL ThE TiME." It's just become too much.

Honestly, kudos to Mark Zuckerberg. He has single-handedly created one the most popular websites of all time, and is one of, if not, the youngest billionaires on this planet. Facebook generates a crapload of traffic every minute of every day.
But it was at the cost of mankind and its dignity.

Once again, this was just my rant. Please feel free to comment in way you would like. I enjoy opinions. Just don't be a douche about anything.
Thanks.

Daddy's home.
I understand what you're saying. When I first got Facebook I was checking it all the time. Now, a few years later, I check it maybe once or twice a day. I'm quite sick of reading peoples stupid posts about their lives. FML this FML that *slits wrists*. I don't care about what you're having to eat. I don't need to read a quote from a popular TV show that about 10 million people have just heard a second ago. I like the idea of it though, mass communicating rather than telling people individually, like if there is a party on, or people are going to the pub and shit. Sadly, people don't use it for that and soon people will be updating saying they are having a shit. I don't need to know every persons day step by step. I delete people who do that, unless I'm close to them, in which I tell them no one cares.

In my man cave
Admittedly facebook has taken over alot of people's lives but they choose to live that way and you cannot really argue with that. The sad reality is people decide to poke each other on facebook all night instead of actually going out, getting laid and then poking them. The same goes for all the social networking sites out there. But we live in a constantly evolving world and soon enough we'll all be having cyber sex, the word physical won't exist in 20 years time :p

Thank you for understanding what I was writing about :y: My whole problem is with the fact that Facebook has become just a source for people to say the dumbest things and talk about their lives. Maybe that's what Facebook is for? I'm not sure. Maybe its just my opinion that Facebook's purpose is for staying connected to one another and mass communication.

I completely agree with you. I admitted it too, I check my Facebook constantly too. And we're both right, it has become a habit. And I know I didn't clearly say it in the OP, but I do like Facebook. But, for it's benefits. I like talking to my friends who I don't see anymore. I like writing nonsense and "lovey-dovey" stuff on my girlfriends wall because it's just fun. But, like I said before, Facebook has just taken everything over basically. Regardless, people will be people and do what they want.
