Well, you are referring still, to inside our atmosphere, if you are referring to the Discovery, which has drifted off into space, think of being in a spaceship, and you throw out a pea, however hard you throw that pea, it will travel at that speed, and just keep going, until it subsides into a gravity field, or collides into something, there is no air, no wind, no resistance..
