Comparative Analysis Essay
The Odyssey vs. O Brother, Where Art Thou?

In the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? the characters are based on Homer’s epic poem even though the movie was set in the 1930’s its plot is the same as the Odyssey’s. When the blind man told them they had to travel, it was like Odysseus and his men traveling to get home to see his wife and their families, but there trying to find a treasure that’s not really a treasure it’s Everett wanting to see his wife and kids again. “Though set in drastically different times and geographical locations, the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? is clearly drawing its plot and characters from Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey.”

The characters of “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” based on Homer’s epic poem: The Odyssey, Ulysses is Roman for Odysseus, they’re just alike in many ways, they are both great leaders but they get there “crew” into trouble many times causing them to stop the travel for a little bit of time. In Homer’s epic poem there were sirens and they were devil worshipers, and in the movie “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” there were three girls who reminded me of them, they sang a song a goes like; “You and Me plus the Devil makes three”, and they drugged Everett, Pete, and Delmar, when Delmar and Everett woke up, they seen that Pete was gone and Delmar saw a moving bump, thinking they left his heart. They soon found out it was a toad and assumed it was Pete.

In “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” the “Ku Klux Klan” has a meeting and there going to hang Tommy; Everett, Pete, and Delmar’s friend who sold his soul to the devil to play the guitar, it reminded me of the suitors torturing Odysseus and his son. Big Dan from “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” is a big mean guy who beats Delmar and Everett and steals there money, Big Dan is just like the Cyclops from the epic poem. The governor from “O Brother Where Art Thou?” Big Pappy is like the guy that made Odysseus younger when he pardoned them for singing into a “can.”
When George “Baby face” Nelson killed the cows it reminded me of the Sun God who loved cows and so did Odysseus’ crew, but in this movie he killed the cows and he hated them, it’s kind of alike in many ways, and both stories involve cows hence why the movie is based on the epic poem. Everett and Odysseus’ are a like because they are both trying to get to there wives, Everett is trying to get home to see his wife and Odysseus is trying to be with his wife, come to find out Everett’s wife has been with another guy and told his daughters he got hit by a train, and when he went to where he is from he saw his daughters and they told him they thought he got hit by a train.

In conclusion “Though set in drastically different times and geographical locations, the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? is clearly drawing its plot and characters from Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey.” Both stories have almost the same plot that includes: adventures, fighting, struggles, and people to try and stop their long journey, in the epic poem Zeus tried stopping them and in the movie the Sheriff tried stopping them. The epic poem was written very well and the movie was really good and funny people should read the story then watch the movie and see how they really relate each other.

You can't just add more punctuation if it isn't needed.

Well there is a lot of choppy sentences that can be combined into one sentence.

Ex:I like pie.I always eat pie.I eat usually eat it on the weekends.
Ex.2:I like pie and I always eat it,I usually eat it on the weekends though.
