WouldISurviveANuke is a morbid Google Maps mashup that plots out the effective radius of nuclear weapons on major metropolitan areas, your distance from them, and your chances of survival.

Visit the site, plug in your zipcode, and set the parameters (how big of a nuclear weapon and how large the nearest target city needs to be) to find out if you’re in the blast radius. We plugged in a downtown address in Detroit, MI. The verdict? Neither we nor the cockroaches will be coming out alive. If you plug in a location far enough away from the direct blast radius you’ll also get a quality of life report that spells out the effects of a local nuclear strike. As far as startling anti-nuclear proliferation arguments go, WouldISurviveANuke is an effective and interactive demonstration.

Or stay in, make the cash and start collecting goods.

There are people who have spent the last 5-10 years collecting material incase of something like this and have accumulated 300k+ worth in Canned Foods, Supplies, ect + have taught themselves to be self effecient and grow their own foods.

50 Megaton on Washington D.C., I'm out of the orange zone by about 10 miles. Too close to chance it though. We'd load up the truck with food, water, clothes, money, a radio, batteries, guns, ammunition, an axe, all our documents, lighters, blankets, a few valuables, china, gasoline, and silverware....and of course the dog and toilet paper.

I'd be in my car and we'd be haulin' ass south!

Texas, then maybe to Baja Mexico.

Or Miami, then get everything, including the cars on a boat to somewhere.

Could just go to the LA branch of my firm, since my location would be gone. Wouldn't take over 4 days to get to LA.

There would be a long war, a world war, if there was a nuclear strike on American soil.
