Yes that is another major problem especially for mulitplayer. The maps have way too much noise in my opinion (another reason I don't player search), how are you supposed to know someones coming when the wind is louder than their footsteps?
I played BO so much that I have gone completely tired of it so MW3 satisfies me enough for the time being.

Agreed. I'm so used to hearing people plant/defuse bombs that it's weird not being able to hear it from more then 5 feet away. Hopefully they will come out with another patch to fix some of the sound issues. I'm sure the MLG Teams are complaining about it as well or at least I hope they are.
