Do you think this should happen? Do you think that people should launch missiles into space and mess with other things?

well, in my opinion, I don't think this should happen. There is one thing using missiles on Earth, but to then go and do it in a place that no body has any control over is ridiculous. What would happen if something went wrong. Maybe the moon isn't stable and could get knocked out of orbit. What is going to happen to the hundreds of tons of debris. I think that NASA has gone a step too far with messing with things outside of our planet.

I highly dought theres any water or oxygen on the moon. I'm also pretty sure NASA knows this. Besides if missiles were to be shot at the moon it would just crete crater, something moon already has from those damn astroids, so it wouldn't knock it out of orbit and the debri would just float in space along with some dead dog and the sputnik

mathematically they wouldnt risk this. a 6 mile high explosion is capable of knocking the moon off of a planetarial orbit, whereas if they did this to mars (somewhere with traces of water) it would be safer. my bet is somewhere something got messed up and it really is they are doing it on mars. the gravitational field of the sun is much stronger than the earths and therefore a 6 mile high blast wont do anything

The lunar dust on the surface can be heated to high temperatures to release liquid water. The water can then be broken into hydrogen and oxygen for use. If we ever settled on the moon, this technology would be essential.

Besides, NASA has some of the smartest people working for them. I doubt they'll do anything very risky.

They are doing it to the moon as they plan to put a 'base' on their for studies or some shit like that.

That's actually ingenious. Create a large dust plume, and the compounds of which can be studied by satellite.

Like you said, NASA have some smart people. Lets just hope it goes to plan. But I still don't think they should 'mess; with something that doesn't 'belong' to us, eve if it does mean we could visit the mean or whatever.

eh it'll be fine, they just need to triple check their math. NASA has screwed up several times before. they should be focusing on other things first instead of jumping into the start of a lunar colony. we've only been in space for 50 years. scientifically speaking that isnt a long time for such a serious project
