(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So I was thinking about writing a long post that derives and explains most of the aspects of Special Relativity. I am posting this poll for two reasons:

1. Most of the users who seem to enjoy intellectual stimulation tend to congregate in this section. Posting this beforehand would therefore give it more exposure to the sort of people who might actually be interested.
2. I don't want to waste my time writing a lengthy post that nobody ends up reading.

I'll probably write it even if only a couple of people are interested. I've noticed that a few people in this section seem genuinely interested in the subject, so I thought I would take the time to give those people a solid foundation. It wouldn't contain any math more advanced than the Pythagorean Theorem. I might include some more complicated stuff, but it would all be optional, supplementary.

So... opinions?

Although personally I'd have no idea what the heck you're on about, I'm sure many other members would find it interesting Smile

He is referring to Einstein's two theories of relativity, which encompass both my comments on time travel and the speed of light (one might say they are two of the same), and what he called 'spacetime'. Many assume he won his Nobel Prize for his work on relativity - when in actuality it was for his work on the photoelectric effect (photons absorbing electron energy etc.).

I've attended a few lectures on this so my knowledge is decent on the subject, but I would definitely appreciate hearing more about the subject.

I must admit, my knowledge of various areas of physics are little more than an informed layperson. I'm a biochemist, which pretty much makes me the exact scientific counterweight to physics really.

I would definately be interested in reading this essay though, and perhaps I'll learn a little something and refine my understanding of an area of science that I'm not strictly a student of.
