If you have 800 rep you have 4 rep power so -repping will remove 4 rep and +repping will add 8 rep.
If you have 5000 rep you have 25 rep power so -repping will remove 25 rep and +repping will add 50 rep.

If you have less than 200 rep, your rep power is 0 so -/+rep does nothing, but I think you need 50 posts before you can use -/+rep anyway unless that's been changed.

Edit: Oh yeah. Thanking may add +10 rep but Groaning doesn't affect rep at all. So if you disaprove of a post (not necessarily disagree, but think the post isn't worthwhile), feel free to groan but it might piss people off

is that how it works i never knew that cheers mate,

i thought being groaned gave -rep though i made a thread on mw3 section awhile ago and i got a thank and nomination but got groaned 6 times and im sure my rep went down for it, it ruined my rep i was building decent rep and i lost about 50-60 rep after that thread, i think it offended a few fanboys it annoyed me abit to be honest as it wasnt deserved i stay clear of cod section now haha

as for santa i stopped believing when i saw my mum and dad putting presents out stare

Premium users can see your reputation history. The groans didn't effect your rep, but you did get -repped by a member with a rep power of 37. So yeah, big drop in rep there, then you got -repped by someone with a rep power of 125 (but I believe rep power is now capped at 60, so everything over 60 isn't counted)... so ouch. All your other reps are positive, it's just two long time members took a dislike to your posts.

It's why I'm careful when I +/-rep people, because I have a rep power of 37 myself. which means I can add and remove a decent chunk of rep, -37 or +74. One thing you don't want to do is "rep4rep", where you and a few friends agree to +rep or thank eachother all the time. A lot of members just see that as cheating and will down rep you a lot for it.

Since my mom was so religious right when I turned about 4 or 5 she told me Santa wasn't real. I honestly didn't even care. Then one day at pre school or what ever school you go to at the age of 4 or 5 I had an argument with the teachers and kids that Santa was fake. Then the teacher said I was excluded from the Christmas party. Then I told my mom and she cussed out the teacher Happy
