A Florida teenager who stabbed a schoolmate to death will not face any criminal charges, a judge ruled this week in Naples, Fla.
Fifteen-year-old Jorge Saavedra was facing a second-degree murder charge in the death of Dylan Nuno, 16, after a judge ruled the boy's action against a bully amounted to self-defense, naplesnews.com reports.
(Collier County Circuit Judge Lauren) Brodie based her decision this week on the findings from a two-day December hearing, during which students who witnessed the events Jan. 24, 2011, testified that several teens announced the fight on the bus, and Saavedra got off several stops early in Golden Gate Estates. ...
In a nine-page document released Tuesday by the State Attorney's Office, Brodie stated that by getting off the bus several stops before the location where the fight was to happen, Saavedra "demonstrated that, with or without a knife, (he) had no desire to fight with Dylan Nuno."
According to testimony, Nuno, a junior, followed Saavedra, a freshman, off the bus and punched him in the back of the head. Saavedra tried to get away.
He then stabbed Dylan Nuno 12 times in the chest and abdomen. Two of the blows caused fatal wounds, including one that nicked his heart.
I think this is a very good subject (bullying) and that it isn't funny to pick on people. The Columbine High School Massacre was caused by bullying... And many other school shootings. The bully didn't deserve to die.. But I don't feel bad for him. If you're gonna pick on/harass somebody, don't expect anything good to come out of it. A lot of people pick on people they don't really know. Everybody has limits, and sometimes that limit gets reached very fast. It's like you're poking an alligator with a stick.. It will eventually bite back!
Please tell me what you guys think about this.. Murder is a big deal, do you think what he did was right? Or was it over the limit? Did you ever experience bullying, or witnessed it? Thanks.
Self defense my ass. He was aiming to kill, not to "defend himself". Defending yourself would be fighting back not killing with a knife (unless the other guy is aiming to kill).
This kid has issues. I can understand he was fed up, but to stab someone 12 times. That's just horrible. Who in their right mind would stab someone 12 times. Even if I was going to kill someone with a knife, I still wouldn't stab the kid 12 ****ing times.

Stabbing him 12 times and killing him he should have got time.
If he was black he would be in jail for murder right now.
A black kid got sent to jail for like 7 years for a senior prank.

ya I know blacks are always treated worse in the law system.
I think it is VERY wrong that he isn't getting jail time. Stabbing someone is against the law, regardless of the circumstances. I could see this happening if he was being harassed and stabbed the bully once to get away, but 12 times? No one should be able to get away with stabbing someone 12 times. this story sickens me, the bully had a family and friends that will never see him again, and his murderer doesn't go to justice? Just wrong.
I know the post is old but that is completely false if somebody broke into your house in 13 states under the Castle law you may shoot them, stab them kill them with out any charges at all. And in my understanding this was not all that wrong bullying in some cases and ruin a whole entire life, and personally I would rather have a person take another persons life rather than committing suicide and the way I look at it that was pretty much his options. Now don't get me wrong this kid should have gotten 3-5 years of probation but I don't think jail time is needed maybe a week or so for a weapon on school property.

I'm not saying that what the bulky did was right, or that the kid shouldn't have defended himself, but six stand? He would have been down in one, and he continually did it. I don't care if the bulky deserved it or not, there is no Way he deserves to die for what he did. PS I'm not saying bullying is right :p

I realize what your saying but in my opinion I would rather the bully get his life taken than the victim and if you noticed one of they guys on the second page sad he lives in Naples, FL and he said the kid had it coming meaning the news didn't make it sound much worse than it was.
I agree that it was most likely self defense but to stab someone 12 times? Usually in self defense you're not trying to kill, just defend to get away. It seemed like he went a bit further then that. I do not know all the facts about the case so it is what it is. I guess he bullied the wrong person and paid for it.

My personal story:
Okay, yesterday ( Jan. 5th 2012 ) I was in one of my bad classes... You know, the one that everybody talks, and doesn't pay attention. Well there's these group of black girls ( no racism intended ) and they always pick on this other white girl ( again, no racism intended ), and they always throw shit in that class.. Well, there's a new kid in my school, he showed up right when we came back from Christmas break. The black girls were throwing shit at the white girl, and of course, one of them missed and hit the new kid right in the back of the head. He looked down at his desk, his face was red, and he was squeezing his face together.... He looked like he was about to explode! He stood up, and yelled "Who the **** threw that!".. Nobody answered of course, and he grabbed his notebook and stuff, and walked out of the classroom. I thought that they wouldn't throw stuff anymore, but they still do... They act like 9-year-olds...... Grow up
He apparently has a short fuse.. But they're pretty lucky, he would've kicked them to the moon.. Lol, but the real point is, don't pick on people you don't know!
Violence concludes into violence. He should've gone to prison!
