1.Wii – 89.36 million as of 30 September 2011
2.Xbox 360 – 57.6 million as of 4 November 2011
3.PlayStation 3 – 56 million as of 2 November 2011

This saddens me...

The PS3 has gained on the 360 a lot since the price drop a couple years ago. Way to go!

Wii has been out longer then both of them and its parents first choice to buy for their children.

Surprisingly that is not the case. The Wii was released December 2006. The 360 in December 2005.

The statistics do not startle me. The Wii is a console created for a younger aged demographic - of which is larger than the intermediate/pro gamer's market. The PS3 sales do surprise me though, considering the PS3 was released later a full year later, and now it is on par with the 360's sales.

Well, as the xbox fan I am, i am mostly in the ps3 section bcuz no one is in the xbox section.
But for xbox sales dropping is because of RROD.

They fixed it in 2007, but people started to return their stuff for PS3 because it had free online, but xbox gained sales when psn was down in 2011 May for 26 days.

hmmmm Wii = Cheapest... Xbox is a lil bit expensive... Ps3 is the most expensive? Coincidence?

wii sold because it was cheap and geared for the children, xbox sold cuz the kids too and its popular for some reason but i think ps3 is the best

simple Wii - The console every kid wanted, all be it I thought it was really gay, but hey its for the kids.
360- Hardcore gamers, most sponsored players, generally geared to the hardcore gamer fan. kinect expanded kid market.
Ps3- Geared tword leisurely for fun gamers, free online, move expanded fkid market.

So by this is see there is
Wii- kids make up roughly 80%
360- hardcore gamers, kids with the intention to call you bad no matter how bad they are.
ps3- chill players, kids not as bad as 360 but they are there.
