Seeing as NGU is involved in this movement (like me), I wanted to make sure that everybody understood what this "censorship" thing is al about.

~~Updating everytime i get more news~~

What is SOPA? Why is it important?

SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) has been proposed by the US government in october 2011, its objective is to help fight copyright infragment material. (**Basically you wont be able to download your favorite movies,tv shows, music, FACEBOOk,TWITTER,etc) You might bbe worndering why would facebook, twitter, any website to stream online movies etc be blocked. Its simple, if SOPA gets approved it would have a very hard time to control these websites from spreading the copyright material so they will ahve to be shut down.SOmething i want to make very clear is that not only will it stop the copyright infragment but it will also stop freedom of speech For example, lets say that a reporter uploads important news to youtube it will be blocked, or even worse if he writes his news in a blog and links it youtube or a website that SOPA doesnt approved that website will be blocked as well.

Whats bad about illegal downloads being stopped?
Im not going to take sides here, this is personal opinion. I believe that every author deserves money for their hard work. But also there is people that simply dont have the access to certain programs other people have. SO the only way they can get them is by downloading them illegally.

 Im not in america WHY SHOULD I CARE?

It will affect you not directly exactly. However most sites have an american DOMAIN that will still stop you froma ccesing it even tho you are not in america.

"HA! I will just use VPN :mask:
Sorry to break it to you, but what gets blocked is the website so using VPN wont make a difference

:wtf::wtf::wtf:How can i acces them if this does happen? HOW CAN I STOP IT?:wtf::wtf::wtf:
The only way that occurs to me (please share if you have any other ideas) is by ip adress.

How can you stop it. The only real way is by supporting all the people against it

The Internet fought back to protect the Internet — and we won, for now. We have to assemble our Internet army for next year, when this bill will come up again.

There's a what you could call 'law' in the UK where if you break a law and it affects one of your human rights then the person that committed the (ima call it) crime they can't be prosecuted. I have no idea if this applies for any other countries.

Sorry if i worded it wrong but i think some people will know what i mean :p.

I just hope if it passes they can't retroactively sue those who've downloaded movies and music in the past.

I see what you mean, but its two different countries, so its two different mind sets and two different sets of laws. Some wish it was that way here, would be such an easy court defense Happy

That's the thing if you commit a crime while in the UK you have to have the Law Suit in the UK therefore making it easy to win the Law Suit as your not infringing any UK laws however if you commit a crime while in the UK like hacking a website from another country then you can have the Law Suit in either that country or UK when in that case your pretty much ****ed.

Using the same ideology you would think it would be your right to be entitled to stealing, for example a new 3D TV because "I cannot afford one". It is a moronic mentality and really childish. The OP and many others have exaggerated out of context the meaning of what SOPA is, it will not stop freedom of speech. It will not censor the internet. People are against because they know if it gets passed they will have to give up their corrupt ways and actually get a job to buy things. If anything it is making society more fair and equal.

It will not only act against illegal cracked games, but also if you upload a MW3 video for example, it will be copyright infringement. I'm not sure if you know what memes are, but a lot of them contain pictures from like a movie or a cartoon. For example:
You must login or register to view this content. will be no longer there. Upload a funny video with a background song to youtube? Copyright infringement. Do you get my point? It's not just pirated movies or games.
