As most of you know S.O.P.A (referred to as sopa) is the act that will change the interwebs if passed. This bill sounds good on paper , however it needs to be ratified . The objective of this bill is to hunt down/destroy piracy . However , by doing this many sites we love YouTube , FaceBook , twitter , tumblr , nGu , etc. All become at risk because a user can link content that is illegal . Which that is where the bill needs to be changed . Supporters of SOPA make a good point . Piracy has gone on for a while and it should stop . Economic times are tough , however piracy is stealing . You can look at it from whatever perspective . However , if i don't buy the program from the store it pertains to , requiring the goods asked ,it is stealing. Here is a scenario , in my house i have 4 ps3s 1 with ylod , 1 on cfw , 1 on 4.00 , and another on 4.0 . Now you want a ps3 and you decide to break in my house when i am not home. You take one or two and your justification is its because i have 4 ps3s. I can't control a persons morales or beliefs. However , just because the owner may have a large quantity or is wealthy doesn't justify stealing. Also, their are those who do indeed have the goods to have these programs .Who just refuse to give them due apathy or simply they would rather invest their goods elsewhere,or in other areas.

On the other hand , this act is socialist-A political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole ( definition from google suggestions) . Although i was not born in the U.S . I do love the U.S and i am a strong believer in a democracy and capitalism. If this bill is passed the u.s government will be no better then the chinese , cuban , or venezuelan government. Also , the main supporter of this bill are hypocrites . I will start with cbs , the proud owner of cnet. How can they advocate a law that they break . CNET has had links to some of those notorious programs for pirates Bittorent , utorrent, limewire , etc. CNET even has an mp3 file finder that gives you direct links to popular artist such as eminem , wiz khalifa , rick ross , etc. I find it funny that the companies that sue individuals for 1,000,000s (which ussaly settles for a pay plan for a couple of 1000s) . Started the foundation of these piracy programs. Disney had a mp3 download link finder. Disney is a proud supporter of SOPA. On top of that the prices for some of these programs are outrages . I give you all an example You must login or register to view this content. . Thats right Abdobe's video editing software goes for 1000$ . Although Abobe is within their rights to price their products however they please. 1000$ is complete money whoring and for those companies i hate to say it but they SHOULD expect piracy . In my honest opinion software should go anywhere from free-100$ anything else is just pushing it.
In conclusion, This law can not pass . It needs to be strongly ratified in a way where it does not hurt our beloved websites. I encourage you all to voice out your opinion. Even if obama's staff and the white house has said they don't support this act . Do not let your guard down until the end of january. If we don't stand up now think of how hard it will be on for future generations to come. tl;dr: sopa has some good points however it needs to strongly be ratified.
