Thats right SOPA IS DEAD! After strong opposition from online users everywhere, Senate and House leaders said Friday they will put off further action on legislation to stop online piracy. Senate leader Harry Reid, a democrat from Nevada stated that they are going to postpone a test vote that was originally set for tuesday "in light of recent events".

House Judiciary Committee chairman Lamar Smith, a republican from Texas, quickly followed Reid, saying consideration of a similar House bill would be postponed "until there is wider agreement on a solution."

SOPA and PIPA has had enormous support from the entertainment industry because the industry loses billions of dollars each year to online piracy. In fact, Megaupload, a major file sharing site, was just taken down yesterday from the internet showing signs that SOPA and PIPA might actually push through.

But since there has been a strong opposition to the two bills, not only from web surfers, but now according to Reid, at least half a dozen senators who supported the bill are now actually opposing it.

Internet users everywhere may now rejoice! (at least for a little bit)
