When is Black March?
Thursday, March 1st 2012 to Saturday 31st March 2012

What is 'Black March'?
With the continuing campaigns for Internet-censoring litigation such as SOPA and PIPA, and the closure of sites such as Megaupload under allegations of ‘piracy’ and ‘conspiracy’ the time has come to take a stand against music, film and media companies’ lobbyists.

The only way is to hit them where it truly hurts.
Their profit margins.

March 2012 is the end of the 1st quarter in economic reports worldwide.

Do not buy a single record. Do not download a single song, legally or illegally. Do not go to see a single film in cinemas, or download a copy, Do not buy a DVD in the stores. Do not buy a videogame. Do not buy a single book or magazine.

Wait the 4 weeks to buy them in April: see the film later, etc. Holding out for just 4 weeks, maximum, will leave a gaping hole in media and entertainment companies’ profits for the 1st quarter, an economic hit which will in turn be observed by governments worldwide as stocks and shares will blip from a large enough loss of incomes.
This action can give a statement of intent:

”We will not tolerate the Media Industries’ lobbying for legistation which will censor the internet.”

Note: The intended target here is major corporations. If you would like to use your money to support indie media during Black March, then PLEASE do it. It is a great way to redirect your spending away from media pushed on us by the corporate media industry.[/b]

If the entire nation participated in this, it would cause a devastating blow to the companies. I myself think I will be part of this :y:
Why? To show the companies that we have control of how much profit they get. Not fully, but to a certain point. What will censorship do? A friend can still buy an album and share it with me. It's just unconstitutional and unfair in so many ways.

Exactly! This is why I'm going to do it. We have so much more power then they think when it comes to the flow of money.

The consumer is what their whole little company is built off of man.

We're the people who keep businesses running. If we weren't here, there wouldn't be business to begin with.

Exactly. And with no major company, then no artist would be where they are at right now. For the fact that they are the ones who handle marketing, radio play, and all advertising in general. They really need a reality check.

And yes, a reality check may take some time to achieve, due to the fact that they DO have a lot of money even without more coming in, but when it comes to people, they spend spend spend, and what happens when they're out? Nothing, there's no money coming in from business & they have no personal money.

That's the problem with being consumers. And when they're out, they rush to credit cards. It's a never ending cycle of spending.
