Post: Get rid of the Pro Bowl?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Recently, I was reading an article about Rodgers being disappointed in his Pro Bowl team mates. I agreed with everything he said.

(Here's his exact words)

"I'll be honest with you," Rodgers said. "I was a little bit disappointed. I felt like some of the guys on the NFC side embarrassed themselves. [...]
"I wanted to know the plays and I wanted to play well, and I wanted to give the fans a show, and make the Green Bay fans who watched and were watching for me and my teammates, I wanted to make them proud of their Pro Bowlers. I was just surprised that some of the guys either didn't want to play or when they were in there didn't put any effort into it."

Then the writer of the article begins to make fun of him saying "Did someone forget to give Rodgers the memo? It's the Pro Bowl. You get a free trip to Hawaii and you are not supposed to get hurt." This practically means all players were not trying.... at all. If I bought tickets to this I would be extremely pissed (wouldn't we all with that pitiful performance).

Now to the point of the thread. Do you think they should get rid of the Pro Bowl? I think yes, if the players aren't going to try and are trying not to get hurt, then what's the point anymore?

Discuss. stare
(Just me or is the smiley not working?)

I don't really watch that much Football so my say probably doesn't really matter. I voted yes, they should get rid of it since I despise All-Star games seeing as players only screw around and there's not a real sense of excitement (a great example would be the NHL All Star game, there were barely any cheers when a goal was scored).

However, there are a lot of people paying to watch the game (whether it be live or on television), so since there's a revenue being made the ProBowl is most likely not going to be cancelled any time soon.

keep...but fine guys for not giving SOME effort...that was pitiful to watch and they have never been the obvious in the past....i understand all star games being a little lax on d...but at least let 3-4 man rushes come...its fun watchin the best play together, just not at half speed

:y: Well said. It's been getting worse every year :p. I really felt sorry for the fans that bought tickets to the game. Another thing that annoyed me is that they had to pitch it every chance they got. I mean come on :dumb:

im from england so dont watch much nfl games as its on late but shouldnt it be a world class exiting game as its meant to be the best players vs best players shouldnt they be honoured to be picked for it in the first place so they should give 100% for the last game they play before season ends (i think) if its played at half pace then its just a last chance money grab for tv and the players

going to try and stop up for superbowl but its on at like 1 a.m my time and ive got work next day too stare

They should just get rid of the Pro Bowl because it's a meaningless game. The true stars are not in the game because they are usually playing in the Super Bowl and the NFL had to move it in front of the Super Bowl to try to get ratings...it's still not working!
