I thought this would be fun, I'm going to make a top 100 list of the greatest games of all time however I'm not going to pick the games, you guys are. I'm going to leave this thread open for the rest of February and on March 1st I'll count up all the votes and compile a list of the greatest games of all time as voted for by NGU's members.

Here's how I'm going to work this out. Everyone who posts can give their top 10 games. They will recieve points depending on where they appear. Positions 10, 9, 8 7 and 6 will all get 1 point each, (so the order isn't too important), number 5 will get 2 points, number 4 will get 3 points, number 3 will get 4 points, number 2 will get 6 points and number 1 will get 8 points.

Naturally this means the games you put as your 1st and 2nd will matter a lot more. It's kinda similar to how the Eurovision Song Contest is scored. Hopefully it'll give us some close competition. Remember to include all games, I know this site is heavily focused on Call Of Duty, but don't think you have to put it high on the list just because others will, your lists are your opinion so if you want it to have Farmville, The Sims, and Barbie Horse Adventure on it, you can... people who don't want to post their lists publically can PM them to me, and I will add them on as well, if you'd like to keep your votes private.

There are however rules. We don't want people skewing the results with silly posts or thoughtless lists after all. So here are the rules:

1. Only one game per franchise unless they're notably different genres.
We don't need someone giving us a list with 6 Zelda games on it, or a list of nothing but Call Of Duty. However if the game is completely different that's OK. For example; 'Super Mario Bros', 'Mario Kart 64', and 'Super Mario Galaxy 2' could all go on the same list because they're all different genres, but 'Super Mario World' and 'New Super Mario Bros. Wii' cannot because they're both 2D platformers.

2. You must give the name and the console(s) the game is on, numbered correctly.
This is to make sure people spend just a minute thinking about the games on the list and don't just list the last 10 games they got for the PS3. My list is at the end of the post to give you an example.

3. You cannot vote for compilation games unless the game was first released that way.
So you could vote for 'The Orange Box' but you can't vote for 'Sonic Gems Collection'. If someone votes for games that where originally part of a compilation when first released (so for example if someone votes for 'Portal' or 'Half-Life 2' it will count as a vote for the compilation it originally came in (in this case, 'The Orange Box'.

Man, writing up this list was quite nostalgic. Thanks for the tread, Tornado, should be cool to see the final results (even though I'm sure the CoD lovers will prevail).

Indeed they probably will, but then Call Of Duty is actually a really good franchise and the first Modern Warfare especially was very well made. While it's not my personal cup of tea I can see why people like it, the reason most gamers hate Call Of Duty is it creates a divide. CoD has a reputation for being filled with racist homophobic 12 year olds who scream and swear at you so decent gamers steer clear. I've NEVER played a Call Of Duty game online. Not once. I sat and listened to my room-mate play it a few times though and that was enough to make me never want to try. When I first ventured into NGU I was supremely biased against CoD. I hated it on principle. It was ruining gaming literally. The image of gamers was disgusting, and developers where concentrating on making more military FPS games rather than anything else because that's what was selling. It pissed me off and still does, but I no longer blame Call Of Duty for it... it caused problems yes, but it's not a bad game. It does however have a horrible community and that's up to the CoD players to fix. No other gaming community is so unpleasant, but NGU has proven it doesn't have to be that way.

Anyway, I'll add in yours, Sniickers and some I got via PM to the list and give an update on the top 10 as it stands... peoples voting has made joint positions commonplace at the moment.
