Rangers have lodged an intention to go into administration with the Court of Session.

The Ibrox club lodged the notice in Edinburgh at Monday lunchtime.

They now have five days in which to formally declare administrators have taken over the running of the club.

Solicitors lodged the papers with the Court of Session on behalf of the club's directors on Monday.

Rangers FC are currently awaiting the result of a £49m tax case with HM Revenue and Customs in relation to the club's use of the Employee Benefits Trust to pay players and staff.

The Court of Session confirmed to STV that papers confirming the intention to appoint administrators had been received.

Fair enough, I hope both clubs recover for the sake of Scotland, I still really feel that they need to support each other though.

It ain't Celtics fault your stupid owner bought yous out and couldn't and didn't say anything about this tax bill. So at the end of the day blame your own team. I am a Celtic fan and do feel sorry for the Rangers fans but.... your owner is an absolute prick.

Level 2 trustworthy
I live in Inverness in Scotland, Scottish footballnis terrible in my opinion, only ever 2 teams that realistically have a chance of winning the SPL, and without Rangers it's going to be Celtic, Celtic, Celtic, not even Celtic or Rangers have much chance in Europe, Scottish football is terrible and is only going to get worse...

Not much in Europe no? Considering if they qualify both teams have stood a good chance in the past with both of them going to the europa league finals and getting cheated by foreign team its pathetic.
