Rangers have lodged an intention to go into administration with the Court of Session.

The Ibrox club lodged the notice in Edinburgh at Monday lunchtime.

They now have five days in which to formally declare administrators have taken over the running of the club.

Solicitors lodged the papers with the Court of Session on behalf of the club's directors on Monday.

Rangers FC are currently awaiting the result of a £49m tax case with HM Revenue and Customs in relation to the club's use of the Employee Benefits Trust to pay players and staff.

The Court of Session confirmed to STV that papers confirming the intention to appoint administrators had been received.

What's disgusting and completely stupid is the fact that the the Celtic chief executive has come out and said that Celtic don't need Rangers. Absolute bullshit. It's a two team league both teams rely on each other and in times like this in my opinion they should support each other financially. I guarantee if Rangers go Celtic won't be far behind them, a club of that size can't survive in that league on their own.

All the celtic fans are bragging now but this is the only way they will win the league - by default. Cant see rangers really going away completely. WATP

We will come back. The club as of now will still be going strong, we may be going into administration, but that is because of employment issues etc. Ce**c fans have been mocking us. One word, CHAMPIONS. WATP.

no. You don't know anything about why we are in administration. Celtic and Rangers are very alike in their movements and have very little differences. So rephrase what you said.
